SOCIAL MOVEMENTS IN SPAIN: HISTORY, ACHIEVEMENTS AND CHALLENGES OF THE 15M MOVEMENT[editar]

Summary

Historical antecedents of the socio-political participative movements in Spain since the early seventies of last century. Though without trying to be very exhaustive, we will present some of the social movements which have used methods and action strategies that, by their form or contents, we can consider as a precedent of the ones used by the present protest movements that we denominate collectively as “indignados” - indignez-vous movement”, indignant movement, or “15M movement” (the plural-international and restrictive-national versions respectively). Emergence of the 15M movement: differences and similarities with historical and modern social movements. Achievements and failures of the 15 Movement. Some of the consequences that have affected the democratic political system and more specifically the social movements and trade unions. Future scenarios and challenges.

Magister en “Investigación, Gestión y Desarrollo Local”, título propio de la UCM (1998). Profesor en la Universidad de Jaén desde 2003, Área de Trabajo Social y Servicios Sociales. Profesor Titular (TU) desde 2010. Miembro de: Seminario de Estudios para la Intervención Social y Educativa (SEPISE, Universidad de Granada y Jaén); Red CIMAS y Observatorio para el Desarrollo Sociocultural Rural de Castellón - Universidad Jaume I. Líneas prioritarias de investigación: Participación Ciudadana, Movimientos Sociales y Tercer Sector; Metodologías Participativas de Investigación y Trabajo Social (políticas sociales, población mayor, desarrollo sociocultural).
